Dear Members of the ASSFN,
More than a year ago, our society leadership began a concerted process of strategic planning to more concretely define our intentions for the Society as we enter the next decade. We initiated the process with a series of questionnaires that were sent to each of you and to key partners in other societies, patient advocacy groups, and industry. We received important guidance both on aspects of our mission that have been largely successful and on areas that are in need of improvement. This process made us carefully consider the fundamental aspects of our mission and methods by which we may be more effective in achieving our goals. If one idea was paramount to our discussion, it was a desire to engage our exceptionally talented members and harness their energies to forward our shared goals.
We would like to begin this process with a Town Hall meeting during which we can briefly review the elements of our strategic plan and get the feedback of our members. I have enclosed a condensed 2-page summary that outlines the strategic plan and its goals.
